November 7, 2024Last week, in conjunction with the Cantillon Conference and Kerry Business Leaders Dinner, founding Kerry Ambassadors from the Kerry Ambassador Programme were brought together for a day of valuable networking and engagement with their fellow Ambassadors, industry leaders and county representatives.
Launched in October 2022, the Kerry Ambassador Programme is a county initiative designed to drive economic growth through business events and raise Kerry’s profile as a global business hub. Kerry Convention Bureau lead this exciting initiative, in partnership with Kerry County Council, Failte Ireland, Kerry Tourism Industry Federation, Kerry SciTech and Prosper Kerry.
The day commenced with an invitation to participate in Munster Technological University Cantillon Conference, alongside 180 national and international industry leaders, economists, journalists, academics, and entrepreneurs at Ballygarry Estate Hotel, examining and exploring this year’s theme: Transforming to Secure a Sustainable Future.
An exclusive early evening networking reception for the founding Ambassadors and Programme Partners was then held at The Rose Hotel where an update on the Ambassador Programme and newly launched unified place brand for Kerry was shared.
In a presentation given by Becky Hargrove, Manager of the Kerry Convention Bureau, it was highlighted that in the sixteen months since the programme has launched, through opportunities developed in conjunction with the Ambassadors, business events worth an estimated €2.9m to the economy have been confirmed, and another €3.9m of business opportunities are in the pipeline.
This reception was followed by an evening of celebration at the Kerry Innovation Centre’ Kerry Business Leaders Dinner, where the Ambassadors joined 200 invited guests to recognise and honour ambitious businesses and entrepreneurs’ success stories, including the award of Emerging Business Leader for 2024 going to founding Kerry Ambassador Mariana Kobal and her partner Shane Hassett from WAZP.
Becky Hargrove, Manager of Kerry Convention Bureau and Kerry Ambassador Programme lead says “We were thrilled to bring our founding Ambassadors together for what was a wonderful day of networking and engagement, and to have an opportunity to share important updates with our ambassadors on both the programme itself and the recently launched place brand for Kerry”
“To be an ambassador is to advocate for Kerry. As demonstrated by the success achieved already, our ambassadors are using their knowledge and networks to assist Kerry Convention Bureau and our industry partners in identifying new business opportunities for the County” she said. “As Kerry continues to build and position its reputation as both a future focused premier business events destination and one of Ireland’s leading knowledge and innovation hubs, this collaboration with our ambassadors will serve to strengthen and deliver economic growth for the county.”
