In October 2012, at the height of the last recession, the Tralee Soup Kitchen opened its doors, serving a free three course meal and providing takeaway meals every Saturday for people in need in Tralee and beyond. In 2019, 3,657 meals were served and over 350 food parcels distributed. The kitchen is funded entirely by business people in the Tralee area and staffed by volunteers.

To support the Soup Kitchen in its Saturday service, groups can work together to prepare sandwiches in advance which are then given out to those in need. This is an ideal short duration indoor activity, suitable for both small to large groups and KCB member hotels such as The Rose Hotel in Tralee can facilitate providing the space, materials and ingredients required.
